Here's what you get as a member:

  • Newsletter

  • Take part of many traditional Swedish get-togethers all through the year.

  • There are two Book Clubs that meet regularly.

  • The Christmas Fair.
    Is but one of the numerous events sponsored by the Swedish Cultural Society. This traditional pre-Christmas "Julmarknad" held at the Scandinavian Centre, complete with glögg and all the Swedish baked goods, food and Christmas decorations you can dream of.

  • Valborg is celebrated at the end of April with a gigantic bonfire, speeches and song.

  • Many of the Swedish events take place at the Scandinavian Centre in Burnaby where the Sweden Room always is the venue for membership meetings. It was the Swedish Cultural Society that took the initiative to create a meeting place for all Swedes in the Lower Mainland

  • The Swedish School takes care of the young members of the Society. The children, ranging from age 3 to 13, meet once a week at the Center for lessons in Swedish conducted by Swedish-trained teachers.

    The children also celebrate all the Swedish traditions and learn more about their heritage as part of the school program.

    Once a year a fun theme camp is organized during which the children spend two days together to work on a special Swedish project.
